Sam was raising funds for his friend's charity in Uganda:

Donations raised are going towards the work of Wake Up! Ministries in Uganda.
Led by Martin Nangoli, whom Sam lived and worked with in 2004 during his gap year, Wake Up! is a grassroots organisation with a passion for improving people's lives in the rural Ugandan village of Kikobero in which Martin grew up. They provide school sponsorship, adult education, sport and health programs and emergency aid for food to help survive the recent failed crops.
